Hugs

I saw this video on Mine to Thine and it made me think about an experience I had. I and a few friends were camping out at the Gorge for Creation 2000 when I was in junior high school. It was HOT, the showers were freezing, drinking water stayed cold for seconds only, and using the outhouse was a horrific and traumatizing experience every time. It was a three day weekend and by morning number two, I was cranky.

I rolled out of my sleeping bag, donned a pair of sandals and went shuffling off to the outhouse, still in my pajamas, contemplating the niceties of civilization [plumbing, for instance] and I must have been scowling. Or frowning. Because as I was about to walk by a gaggle of [very cute] boys one of them says, "Aww, someone needs a hug."

And before I knew it there were about four [very cute] guys giving me a group hug. How could that not make me smile?

I have no idea who they were, and I never saw them again but I remember the hug and it still makes me smile.

  2. Lol. Doubt it unless Spence comes in. I've got a hug for him because I don't know what to say to him about his daughter.

  4. Happy late VGNO! Two things:

    1. Are you from Washington? I live in Lake Chelan - about two hours (or less, if the hubs is driving) from The Gorge.

    2. I loved The Lovely Bones. I just finished The Dust of 100 Dogs, which I couldn't put down! I reviewed it on my blog today. :)

    Cheers!

  5. I live in Spokane, Washington. :) Wish I'd been at the Gorge for the Nickleback concert they just did.

I had a hard time with the Lovely Bones. It was so sad, I finished it and then went and watched a happy kiddy movie to cheer myself up.
